Mission and goals

Information and communication technologies have become essential to all aspects of the society, including public services, finance, banking, manufacturing, industry, transportation, energy, education, agriculture, security, environmental monitoring, and robotics.

The Master of Science (MSc) in Telecommunications Engineering is taught in English and aims at preparing professionals able to design, develop, and maintain telecommunications services and network infrastructures. This requires a vast body of knowledge, including signal processing, modulation, coding, networking, transmission media, and electromagnetism, as well as some aspects of electronics, automation, and computer science.

The program is aimed at talented students possessing a Bachelor's Degree (or a first-cycle degree equivalent to the Italian Laurea) in telecommunications engineering, electronics engineering, computer engineering, computer science, and other disciplines related to the information and communication technologies.

About us

The University of Cassino and Southern Lazio (UNICAS) is a public research University located in Cassino, Italy, which comprises five Departments in the fields of Economics, Law, Engineering, Humanities, and Sport Sciences. The MSc in Telecommunications Engineering is offered by the Department of Electrical and Information Engineering (DIEI), starting from the academic year 2014-2015. 

In the Evaluation of Research Quality (VQR) for the period 2004–2010 carried out by ANVUR (Italian National Agency for the Evaluation of Universities and Research Institutes), DIEI ranked 24th out of 137 Italian research institutes operating in the same field (area 09, according to ANVUR).

In January 2018 the Department of Electrical and Information Engineering "Maurizio Scarano" (DIEI) was included in the list of the Departments of Excellence in Italy
